Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas
Addison Rotary Open:
Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas

The annual Addison Rotary Open golf tournament was held on Monday September 14th, 2009, at Glen Eagles Country Club in Plano, TX.

Thanks to all the many Rotarians, volunteers, and sponsors who supported the tournament this year. It was a resounding succeess, even with a bit of rain on the course. With your support, we have given the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas a mighty boost in their efforts to provide a home away from home for needy families.

Many Addison Rotarians have served supper at Ronald McDonald House. If you've never done it before, you should consider helping out. It is fun, and you get to serve an appreciated home cooked meal to some people being helped by RMH in their time of need. We met people who had severely premature births, children with brain tumors who will live their lives blind if they survive 70 weeks of chemotherapy and people who have had their lives put on hold or just turned upside down as they struggle with medical problems that we pray none of us have to endure.

We are proud to organize the Addison Rotary Open in support of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. It is a wonderful and worthy charity benefiting Texans who really need our help.

Mexico Eye Clinic Trip

Several Addison Rotarians have gone to support the Guerrero Eye Clinic in the state of Chihuaha, Mexico. The work done at this clinic is exceptional, with eye and dental care provided for free to the truly needed in rural Mexico. In fact, this clinic provides care to 60% of the indigent in the state of Chihuahua.

India Orphanage Matching Grant Project
The Addison Rotary Club has recently finished a partnership with the Rotary Club of Madras Marina in Chennai, India in a matching grant to help improve the Samajam Orphanage located in the heart of Chennai. Specifically, we have installed a clean water system, to help reduce the risk that the children at the orphanage contract water borne diseases. Here are some pictures of the progress of this great project:

Several Addison Rotarians have visited Chennai in support of this project. Click here to read the full story.

Operation Veteran Support
Many local Rotary clubs are actively involved in efforts to support our men & women in uniform. Check out www.rotaryvets.com to find out ways you can help.

Rotary is a volunteer organization with over 32,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. The organization initiates humanitarian programs that address today's challenging issues, such as hunger, poverty, and illiteracy.

Rotary club members represent a cross-section of business and professional leaders worldwide. These 1.2 million men and women donate their expertise, time, and funds to support local and international projects that help people in need and promote understanding among cultures.

Rotary's flagship programs are its efforts to supply water and protect children, with the goal of ending disease throughout the world.
