Program This Week:
Candace Thompson
“Who Was Juanita Craft?”

A Dallas native, Candace Thompson serves as Communities Foundation Philanthropy Officer at the Communities Foundation of Texas and serves as Director of the Friends of the Juanita J. Craft House and Civil Rights Museum, the volunteer organization which oversaw the restoration and completion of this crucial part of Dallas history and Mrs. Craft's impact.

Ms. Thompson is a graduate of UT Dallas and has served as community outreach manager for Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas. Prior to that, she was the director of community outreach at Jubilee Park and Community Center in Dallas.  In 2018, she was a recipient of the Catalyst Award during the Juanita Craft Humanitarian Awards, hosted by the State Fair of Texas and the Juanita Craft Civil Rights House.

                Notes From David

Everything OK?

I hope you got through the winter blast without issues. No issues at our house except that Sasha and I simultaneously wiped out on the ice on our daily walk. It probably looked hilarious, but it didn't feel good! If you do have issues, please remember that you can call on your fellow club members for help.

Socks!

The amazing Regina Edwards, our past district governor, received a few pallets of socks, and asked if we could distribute some of them. So we delivered about 60 pairs to the Anne Frank Elementary School, and 200+ pairs to the Trinity Restoration Ministry, just in time for the cold weather!

Regina says she's getting more socks and will need help giving them away. They've already given socks to all the obvious places in our district (Austin Street Shelter, Metrocrest, etc). Any ideas of organizations that could use socks? Does your church or temple accept donations of clothing? Any other ideas? Let me know!

Trinity Restoration Ministries' Wish List

When I dropped off the socks, I asked what else they need. They emailed their Amazon wish list.  Pretty basic stuff.  https://a.co/3ScksQ9

Tracy Eubanks Retirement Celebration

You remember when Tracy last visited our club he said he was retiring.  Metrocrest is hosting a retirement celebration for him.  I feel like our club should be represented there. HEY! He should join our club! I will probably go. Let me know if you're going to go.

Vote For Schalee

How cool is this?! Our very own Schalee Sanchez has been selected as a Ms. Health & Fitness competitor. Way to go, Schalee!

I'm willing to bet there are VERY FEW Rotary clubs with a “Ms. Health & Fitness” competitor!

Let's support her by voting daily and helping her represent our club and our community in a big way!

Vote here: bit.ly/SchaleeVotes

Voting is open daily – every vote counts! BRING HOME THE TROPHY!

Make it a great day!
