Program This Week:
A Visit to the Dallas Holocaust Museum

From its website: “Founded in 1984 by Holocaust survivors, the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum is a sacred place for remembrance, serving as a home to both horrific history and noble moments. Our mission is to teach the history of the Holocaust and advance human rights to combat prejudice, hatred, and indifference.”

Rotary members and guests need to already have registered to attend on Friday morning. We will see you at 300 N. Houston Street in downtown Dallas (near the 6th Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza) at 7:15 am.  If you didn't register, we will see you on April 3 at our usual place.

Next Volunteer Opportunity:

A Return to the Raptor Center!

Do you remember the speaker about the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center in Lucas, Texas?  Or were you one of the Rotary group that went to volunteer last spring?  Well, because of popular demand, we are going back!  And they are thrilled to have us.  We will probably be doing the same thing as last year (making enrichment items for the birds) because honestly it sounded better than cleaning kennels or weeding to me.  The date: Saturday, April 25 from 9am to noon. Mark your calendars!  Note:  The Raptor Center is near Lake Lavon, southeast of Allen and north of Wylie.

                Notes From David

Correction: Club Leadership Training

In our last meeting I said we need two people to attend grant training for one session at the Club Leadership Training on April 11. That was true in the past.  But, now to qualify for a District Grant for 2026-2027, we need at least one participant to attend Session One and Session Two of the Rotary Foundation track.

Information and registration: https://rotary5810.org/events/2026-club-leadership-training-assembly/

Why is getting the District Grant important? Every year we can do a project and get matching funds up to about $1700, depending on our contributions. It's our money, I hate to lose it, and we can do a lot of good with an extra $1700.

Please let me know if you're going to go and attend the Foundation sessions.

There are other good sessions in addition to Foundation sessions. Keith Einstein and Dan Tatum are going to President Elect/President Nominee training.  There are sessions on Membership, Public Image, Secretary, and Treasurer. Our very own Michael Pugh will lead a session for Assistant Governors!

See you Friday!

Make it a great day!

Photos from Last Saturday's Volunteer Event

Two of us attended the Challenge Air Flyday for children with disabilities at Dallas Executive Airport.  Sorry there are no photos of the kids, but some of them had requested no photos be taken. A child plus up to two family members got a 20 minute flight in a private aircraft around south Dallas plus a t-shirt and snacks and lots of other cool things. Lots of Rotarians from around the district were there as well as other volunteers.

ROTARY TRIVIA

Why did Paul Harris choose “Rotary” as the name of our organization?  In other words, what is the significance of that word?

Answer is at the bottom of the bulletin.

Trivia answer:  Because the early meetings of the club were held in rotation at various members' places of business.  Eventually the Rotary name also came to signify the diversity of professions, backgrounds, and ideas encompassed by Rotarians.
